Before a court case begins, the judge should set a cap on the amount each side can spend based on both the expected complexity of the case and the ability of the poorest side to pay.

This will prevent no win - no fee lawyers claiming exorbitant fees from the other side, and prevent wealthy individuals and corporations winning cases by out-spending the other side.
