Rejected petition Reverse EU withdrawal

As international law permits treaties such as the Withdrawal Agreement to be amended or repealed if parties agree, the UK and EU should both consider to reverse UK withdrawal before the standstill 'transition' period ends and in good time for the UK to vote in the next European elections.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

The UK left the European Union on the expiry of the Article 50 Treaty of the European Union (TEU) deadline at 11pm GMT on 31 January 2020 - not because of the Withdrawal Agreement. The Withdrawal Agreement only ensured that the UK left with a treaty relationship in place.

You would however be welcome to start a new petition calling for the Government to begin negotiations on rejoining the EU under Article 49 TEU, if that is something you'd like to see happen.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
