Rejected petition Freeze Mortgage, Loan/Credit Card, Council Tax and Utility bill payments
To consider a freeze on mortgage, rent, credit card/loan, council tax and utility bills for the employed and self employed if the spread of Coronavirus escalates and we either have to self isolate due to contamination or if we are forced not to work.
More details
Millions of employed and self employed people not in receipt of any benefits will potentially be forced not to work, meaning that the general bills will be completely unaffordable and cause untold stress with no fault of our own. This in turn will have a huge affect on the credit ratings of individuals and thus massively reducing any chance of mortgage/credit acceptance in the near future.
A freeze for 2-3 months would ease the burden and make living a bit more bearable.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Suspending payments for council tax, mortgages, utilities and loans is a matter for individual councils, mortgage providers, utility providers and lenders, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
