Rejected petition Employers pay sick pay when normally only pay Statutory Sick-during Corona Virus

To stop the spread of the virus employers to be supported by the government to continue paying staff when off instead of statutory sick. Statutory sick would not cover bills, mortgages etc. so most workers would have no option but to continue working whether risk spreading or not.

I would like the government to bring in a policy that supports employers to continue paying staff members their contracted hours as the spread of the virus is reliant on people being self quarantined and this may risk lose of homes etc.

Why was this petition rejected?

There’s already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
