Rejected petition Make insurance companies pay out for business interruption due to Coronavirus
Insurance companies are currently refusing to pay out pubs, restaurants and any business claiming for business interruption due to the Coronavirus. We want the government to make insurers pay out when a business has business interruption cover and especially when they have disease extension.
More details
This will be a major cost to the government if insurers are able to not pay out for this claim, no business anywhere will have specific cover for “Covid19”. Thousands of businesses will go under and this will cost the government and tax payer billions. But the insurance companies will come out of it unscathed.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The decision to pay out under a policy is one for individual insurance companies, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you are unhappy with the decision of your insurer you should complain directly to them.
If you are unsatisfied with how an insurer responds to your complaint you may wish to contact the financial ombudsman: https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/businesses/complaints-deal/insurance
