Rejected petition Do not let schools use Predicted Grades as the final GCSE/A-level result.
The government must work with exam boards across the UK to allow students the opportunity to sit their exams. A number of options may be available:
a) Let Y10/L6 students sit their papers in their Y11/U6 year
b) Allow students the opportunity to “resit” examinations if predicted grades are used
More details
In the light of cancellations of GCSE/A-Level examinations as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools should not use predicted grades as a final result for multiple reasons:
1. Many students will over-perform their predicted grades and will not be reflective of their actual performance
2. Affect Uni. applicants who may not get in to their uni of choice if predicted grades are used
3. No opportunity to examine students on subjects they had studied for 6-7 months

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here:

If you want the Government to review the decision to use previous data to calculate exam grades, you may wish to sign this petition:

As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
