Rejected petition Give all GCSE students due to sit exams in 2020 the opportunity to do so
Rejected on
Do not rely on predicted grades and mock results for the entire 2020 cohort of GCSE students. Give these students who have worked hard the opportunity to take their exams and demonstrate what they are capable of.
Many students make significant improvements between their mocks and the final exams. Using only the predicted and mock results denies these children the opportunity to prove what they are capable of. Many have spent months working and revising and were prepared to continue to do despite the ongoing restrictions.
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the decision made by exam boards on what will happen to exams here:

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/306773As a result of the large numbers of petitions people have tried to start on this issue, and following a large number of questions it received from petitioners about exams, the Petitions Committee asked the Government about the impact of coronavirus on schools and exams.
