The government must resist the calls of the extremely wealthy that the 50% tax rate be abolished.
It is fair, visible and only costs someone earning £200,000 per year an extra £5000 in tax, and so is easily supportable by those who are already fabulously rich by ordinary standards.
Moreover, its abolition would finally make bleakly clear to everyone that we are not "all in this together".
Keep the 50% tax rate.
