Rejected petition BTEC students have their predicted grades just like GCSE and A-Level students

BTEC students would have their predicted grades just like GCSE and A-Level students amid the covid-19. Many Btec students will be trying to get into university just like A-level students, however the entry will now not be fair if A-level students are to get predicted grades.

More details

BTEC students have to still do course work to get their final grades but as there as been little time to prepare for lockdown many of the students don't have the correct information to complete coursework and this means their grades would drop. Having their predicted graded like GCSE and A-Level students would help them to have a fair chance when getting into university as many of the A-level students would now be getting higher grades then they should be getting.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Decisions about exams are a matter for exam boards and individual schools, not the UK Government or Parliament. You can read the Government's announcement about what will happen to exams here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/further-details-on-exams-and-grades-announced

Ofqual has stated that it is working with awarding organisations to finalise a list of qualifications that we will advise the Secretary of State should be in scope for learners to receive a calculated result, and this will include many BTEC Nationals: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/awarding-vocational-and-technical-qualifications-this-summer
