This petition is for the late P.C David Rathband, blinded for life by Raul Moat in the course of his duty, to be awarded a posthumous George Cross.
The guide for awarding of this medal state that it should be awarded for 'acts of the greatest heroism or of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger." He was blinded and nearly lost his life at the time, but was truly courageous in his battle of coming to turns with his injury, and the proceeded to raise a great deal of money for charity.
Please please hounour this brave man for whom in the end his injury proved too much too bear.
