Rejected petition Give self employed the same wage payment as employed staff during Covid-19,

Rejected on

During the covid-19 every registered self employed person should be entitled to the 80% wage payment up to a maximum of £2500 a month. We continue to pay into the government via tax and national insurance therefore we are entitled to the same benefits employed staff are

We are all in the same position during this tragic event and still have bills to pay. We are all losing work because of this situation and will be unable to pay if we completely stop work through either clients not wanting us to or the government putting us all in lock down. SSP is simply not enough to even put food on the table for an average sized family where both parents are self employed.
