Rejected petition Deny government aid to businesses overcharging to profit from Corona Virus

It is apparent that the threat of prosecution is not working as many shops have grossly inflated their prices for essentials such as hand sanitizer, soaps, anti bacterial products, foods and toiletries. This is a disgusting betrayal of the communities these bussinesses support.

More details

The denying of government support should be sufficient motivation to put an immediate stop to this practice.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

We understand that you want the Government to withold support from companies that are profiteering during the coronavirus outbreak, but it's not clear exactly what action you want the Government to take.

You could start a new petition stating in more detail what you want the Government to do, for example to prevent retailers charging more than the Recommended Retail Price for products from accessing financial support from the Government.

We have published a petition calling on the Government to restrict people stockpiling and reselling items at inflated prices, which you might like to sign: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/303070
