Rejected petition Freeze all councils and housing associations rents for 3 months

Rejected on

To freeze council and housing rents for 3 months

What are Council’s and housing associations doing to help / support us in this outbreak of Covid-19? but what are efdc doing for us to support our rents. Thousands of people are in stress of not knowing how or when they can pay there rent while being laid off, schools closing falling ill or self isolating - this crisis also leads to us over bulk buying expenditures with money we don’t have falling deeper into debt. We need all councils / housing associations to freeze rents for 3 months to give us time and support to help with this very stressful and worrying times

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Suspending payments for rent, council tax, mortgages and utilities is a matter for individual landlords, councils, mortgage providers and utility providers, and not the UK Government or Parliament.
