Rejected petition Prosecute licensees of pubs, bars, and clubs who opened up during Covid-19
Premises license holders of pubs, bars and clubs should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for wilfully exposing their staff and customers to Covid-19. Ignorance is not a defence!
More details
They have a civic duty to protect the health and safety of their staff and customers and the ones which opened their doors when ordered not to have neglected the position of trust that they are in. They are just exposing their staff and customers but their extended families to the virus.
They have exposed everyone to an extremely hazardous virus with no regard for anyone’s health.
They should be held criminally accountable and should forfeit their licenses with immediate and permanent effect.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
The Government has made Regulations that require certain businesses to close, and proprietors or managers contravening these Regulations has committed an offence, but taking action against these individuals is a matter for the police, local authorities and the Crown Prosecution Service. The Government has published information on compliance with its guidance on closing certain businesses and venues here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close/further-businesses-and-premises-to-close-guidance#compliance
