Rejected petition Give clarity and bursary’s for student nurses during covid-19 outbreak!

We want to have clear instructions for what students nurses are to do during the covid-19 outbreak. We appreciate we may be classed as key workers however, being supernumerary are we key workers? We known there is guidance for 3rd year students, but very little guidance for students in other years.

More details

If further guidance suggests we should continue on placement and continue to support our nursing staff, endangering ours and our families lives, we should be entitled to a bursary. This bursary would be a big help as we are currently paying 9k+ for tuition fees and having 3-11k debt from our maintenance loans and childcare fees for each year.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Student placements are a matter for the educational institutions the student is enrolled in, the organisation sponsoring the placement, and the regulatory bodies that are responsible for the qualifications, not the Government or Parliament.

If you have concerns about continuing with a placement you should raise these with the educational institution you are enrolled in, the organisation sponsoring your placement, and the relevant regulatory body.

We have published a petition calling on the Government to reimburse Nursing students who are prematurely called out into the workforce, which you might like to sign: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/302844
