Rejected petition Cancel all exams & assignments for university students (starting from mid March)
Make universities cancel all assignments and exams even if they are online. Just like it was done for A level exams and GCSEs it should be the same for uni students.
More details
During this pandemic we are already stressed and depressed being at home. Majority are home with most members of the family at home which means less focus, WiFi might be slow etc. Also, work cannot be done do the best ability as we lack the resources (library, books) to get us a higher grade. It’s a long process to be getting in contact with lecturers to then wait for their reply and if you have more questions after you’ll have to email again and then wait for a response. Due to the strikes we already lost out on some sessions so it’s hard to understand the assignment briefs or process of the exams etc. This pandemic is already stressful for us so it’s not fair that we have to be the only students in education to still carry on with assignments and exams.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Decisions about university teaching, assessments and exams are a matter for individual universities, and decisions about university admissions are a matter for individual universities and UCAS, not the UK Government or Parliament.
If you have concerns about admissions you should raise these with UCAS, and if you have concerns about your university's arrangements for teaching and assessment you should raise these with your university or the Office for Students, which regulates the higher education sector.
We understand that the current situation is stressful for many people, including students. Student Minds, a mental health charity for students, is collating guidance and developing resources to support students experiencing stress as a result of the current situation, which you may find useful: https://www.studentminds.org.uk/coronavirus.html
