Apart from the moral obligation we have to show our gratitude to current NHS workers from other countries, we should recognise that the NHS is dependent on their contribution, even under normal circumstances. It also seems unlikely that the NHS could cope without them in the event of a recurrence of a pandemic similar to the current emergency.
