Rejected petition Provide Covid-19 funding to charities & community businesses hit by income loss

The Government has introduced a number of fiscal strategies to support the general public, businesses and other sector specific bodies.

We call on the Government to launch a similar fiscal scheme for charities and community businesses to receive support during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Community organisations are the 1st line of support in the early stages of crises. Community organisations, typically led by volunteers have been setting up support processes for food banks, telephone support lines and putting in place methods to support their local communities. Using their local knowledge to serve local need. In recent weeks income has vanished. The community halls, facilities and services remain unused. Funding should be provided so they can help during to the next emergency.
