To award the highest civil decoration in the United Kingdom to the NHS in recognition of their selfless bravery, dedication and commitment during the current Coronavirus pandemic.

The George Cross is awarded for acts of the greatest heroism and courage in the face of great danger. It is usually awarded to individual civilians but has twice been awarded to a collective namely Malta in WWII and the Royal Ulster Constabulary in 1995.

Every day during this current pandemic, NHS staff are putting their lives on the line for the British public.
