Rejected petition Include events industry in ‘retail, hospitality and leisure businesses’

For the UK Government to broaden their definition of ‘retail, hospitality & leisure businesses’ to include businesses in the events industry. This change would mean businesses in the events industry could access the Retail, Hospitality & Leisure Grant and receive Business Rates relief for 2020-2021

More details

The Business Visits and Events Partnership has estimated that the UK events industry is worth £70bn and provides work for over 700,000 people, yet has been overlooked by the Government as being part of the retail, hospitality and leisure sector in their response to COVID-19. The Events Industry Forum conducted a recent survey and found that 60% of the UK’s event industry’s supplier base is facing collapse within 3 months unless event businesses receive additional support from the Government.
