Rejected petition Change the date to qualify for the furlough scheme

To extend the qualifying criteria for employees to become included in the current furlough scheme to include seasonal workers who signed a contract before the crisis, but did not commence employment until after the qualifying date. For example holiday accommodation workers.

More details

There are a large number of people who signed a contract for employment during the winter, but because the employment did not begin until April or May, did not qualify for the current scheme. It is unfortunate that such cases missed the boat by a few weeks, yet will face severe financial hardship until they can return to work. Can the scheme be amended to include these employees ?
