Rejected petition Investigate the high death rate of BAME patients diagnosed with COVID-19 virus.
Research and investigate the physiological reasons why the death rate of BAME’s infected with the virus is disproportionate. Ensure that the NHS are adequately equipped to treat BAME patients who are hospitalised and in the community with underlying conditions known to affect BAME.
More details
BAME continuously hear the media reports about the disproportionate death rates of Black and Asian patients infected with COVID19, as yet no affirmative action has taken place, to identify why the risk factor is so high apart from quoting demographics and socioeconomics as a probable cause, no biological explanation has been sought or given. Brent which has a large BAME demographic consistently reports as having the highest infection and mortality rate in London and identified as a COVID19 hotspot yet local authority have no measures in place to encourage testing in the community, or education to slow, lower and control the spread of infection within the community.
