Rejected petition Drop the London Anti-Gay Bus Adverts
More details
We call on the London bus company that has been booked to carry an advertising campaign (starting Monday 16th April) which asserts the power of therapy to change the sexual orientation of gay people to drop the advertising campaign immediately.
The adverts are clearly homophobic, and incite prejudice and discrimination.
The British Medical Association (2010) passed a motion condemning conversion therapy advocated in these adverts, stating that such methods were "discredited and harmful to those 'treated'". It has also been condemned by leading medical organisations including the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
We also request that any employee of the bus company who refuses to drive the buses displaying these advertisements faces no disciplinary action as a result.
