Rejected petition Prevent employers firing their employees over opinions shared on social media.

The Government should enact measures to protect the people from losing employment over actions taken outside of work that have no bearing on their role. Rebecca Long-Bailey is the most recent victim of a culture that has allowed people to lose their livelihoods over a difference of opinion.

More details

It is within the Government's power to amend the 'Employment Rights Act 1996' to make the firing of individuals for posts on social media an act of unfair dismissal, by modifying the legislation under Part X: Chapter 1 of the aforementioned act.
