Rejected petition Keep our air clean! Accelerate the adoption of electric cars through tax breaks
The government introduced a 0% benefit in kind tax for electric cars on company car schemes in April. We want this benefit or a similar one rolled out for people that can't access company schemes with the idea that it would massively reduce the cost of electric cars and thus speed up adoption.

Because air pollution causes up to 36,000 deaths a year. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a better more progressive U.K. let’s not waste it.

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
We understand that you want the Government to incentivise uptake of electric cars, but it's not clear how you want the Government to do this.
Tax reliefs on company cars can only apply to people who have company cars. You could start a petition calling on the Government to increase grants or reduce VAT for people buying electric cars, if that is what you want to happen.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
