Rejected petition Improving UK child protection legislation

More details

We ask the Government to act to improve Child Protection Legislation for the benefit of all children and families.

10,000 children a year in the UK are removed from their families by the State. All efforts must be made to ensure the State gets these decisions right.

We ask the Government to act to implement the following measures:

1. Child protection decisions to be made on evidence based fact.

2. Parents to be informed of the case against them.

3. No family to be assessed by experts who have not met them.

These measures will reduce the number of children wrongly removed from their families, freeing up Local Authority resources for the most vulnerable children.
