Rejected petition Nursing and care homes should not be for profit

Nursing and Care Homes should not be in the hands of private companies.

I would ask the Government to ONLY license nursing and care homes to Charitable or Non-Profit making organisations, such as Registered Social Landlords or those providing services to other vulnerable people.

Elderly people having to move because a home is not profitable any more is disgraceful. No one should profiteer from old age in this way. Huge fees affect families, local councils and local tax payers.

In the voluntary sector, homes would have better investment with more money being used so staff have better training, reduce turn over of staff, have greater confidence from residents and relatives and reduce the incidents of abuse.
