Rejected petition debt, mortgages, credit cards and loans to be included in UK school curriculum

Rejected on

Teaching of debt, mortgages, tax and all other forms of money should be taught in school as part of the curriculum.

this should be made just as important as any other lesson, every single student would one day benefit from these teachings and can change your future making the right decisions from what they have previously been taught.

Why was this petition rejected?

We can't publish petitions when the request is something that's already happening or something that has been announced since you started your petition.

We think your petition is covered by Government or Parliament action already. If you'd like something else, you could start a new petition clearly explaining what it is.

The national curriculum already states that secondary school students should be taught about the functions and uses of money, the importance and practice of budgeting, income and expenditure, credit and debt, insurance, savings and pensions, financial products and services, and how public money is raised and spent.

You can read the full national curriculum for key stages 3 and 4 here: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/840002/Secondary_national_curriculum_corrected_PDF.pdf

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
