Rejected petition Allow 1 person to escort and/or attend antenatal appointments with Mothers-to-be

Currently it has been banned unless in exceptional circumstances to have anyone attend antenatal appointments with Mothers-to-be.
We would like to have this changed so that one other person can also attend, or an escort can be present.

More details

The Government has opened pubs, restaurants, and other public spaces with strict regulations put in place to minimise the risk of infection spreading. The hospitals also have regulations in place, so we believe that with measures, one other person may attend antenatal appointments with low risk of spread.
Currently, Fathers-to-be are unable to take a first look at their child/children through scans, and women who are expecting may feel distressed attending these appointments on their own.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Individual hospitals and clinics, not the UK Government or House of Commons, decide who can attend scans and antenatal appointments.

You should check with your maternity team and sonography unit for their policy on who can attend antenatal appointments, including scans.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
