This petition was submitted during the 2019-2024 parliament
Rejected petition Allow fathers of the same home to attend midwife appointments with their partner
Allow maximum of one person to be allowed into scans, midwifery appointments and anti natal appointments
More details
Presently people are allowed to be in a pub with lots of people who claim to be free of symptoms of covid-19 but they are taken at face value and do not require a mask. However a pregnancy is just as exciting to a father as it is to a mother but the father is currently excluded from involvement in this journey and it is unfair that the father is chastised from this life changing experience
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Decisions about who can attend scans are a matter for individual hospitals and clinics, not the UK Government or House of Commons.
On 5 June, the NHS’s suspension of hospital visiting was lifted. This means that visiting is now subject to local discretion by trusts and other NHS bodies. You should check with your maternity team and sonography unit for their policy on visitors attending antenatal appointments, including scans.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
