Closed petition MPs should be paid minimum wage plus 20% of the national average wage
Closed on
MP's should be paid a wage equivalent to 40 hours a week at minimum wage plus 20% of the national average wage (approximately £18,000p/a in total).
This in addition to expense allowances would give them a reasonable wage whilst keeping them in touch with the people in this country. It also would ensure that they cannot overly benefit from simply helping the rich get richer.
Its time for our MP's to realise that they are public servants, not better than their average constituent. We are having to survive on less, and I challenge them to try.
