Closed Abandon the formation and appointment of Police and Crime Commisioners

The Government propose to elect and create Police and Crime Commisioners in November 2012.

The cost of this scheme is reported to be £130m and they will receive a wage of £120k pa.

We are in a period of recession and this expense cannot be justified.

Police Forces are already accountable to Police Authorites which are formed from a cross section of the communities that they serve, not a politically motivated individual.

A Police Force should not have any political leaning and this system will see political influence in the Police never seen before and can only be a step in the wrong direction.
