Companies can only charge a customer the fee that they are charged for handling a payment by credit/debit card transaction.

i.e. airlines charging £10 per person per leg of their journey when paying by card transaction.

If it only costs the airline say £0.78 for the total card transaction the the customer can only be charged £0.78.
