As the proportion of the population renting increases there is an urgent need to increase regulation of the private sector marker.

Currently tenants face numerous discretionary charges at the start and throughout the tenancy. Tenants also face insecurity from lack of tenure and above inflation rent increases.

We call on the government to address the balance of rights which at present leans heavily in favour of the property owner.
