Petition Amendments to the road tax system

We propose that the current system of road tax should be scrapped and a new system similar to that used in Switzerland be introduced.

All cars would pay a flat rate with larger commercial vehicles paying a higher rate for the damage they cause to the road surface

foreign vehicles would not be exempt from the legislation and would have to purchase road tax at their point of entry to the country.

The current tax disc to be scrapped and replaced with a tamper-proof non-transferable vignette type sticker with serial number.

tax generated from the scheme should be re-invested in the roads rather than distributed to other areas of government
