Driver Fatigue and Unsafe Working Practices In the Haulage industry

“We believe the UK Government has a duty of care to ensure the safety of HGV drivers and also protect the British public from unsafe working practices in the haulage industry.”

Fatigue is still prevalent and for all the laws in place the Road Haulage industry, it still remains an unsafe working environment.

The main points of this Petition, which need to be addressed urgently so that our roads become a safer place to be, are as follows:-

Completely ban the use of mixed shifts

Ban the current reduction of rest after a 15 hour duty shift

Ban extensions to the 10 hour total night duty rule

Enforce Route planners to be part of the Driver CPC training
