since the introduction of the new licensing law enacted in 2005 the level of alcohol consumption has undoubtedly increased, causing problems to the health of the individual drinker, making many town centres no-go areas due to violence and costing a fortune to treat the drinkers. this also takes resources from other people needing emergency treatment. many young people are now suffering liver damage too, or dying from alcohol poisoning or indeed the violence that too much alcohol brings about.
