Petition We demand a better deal for women in sport

As part of Stylist's Fair Game For Women In Sport Campaign, we’re tackling the following:

• Research by the Women’s Sport & Fitness Foundation shows that women’s sport receives less than 5% of all sports coverage which makes it hard to attract the commercial partners it needs.
• By the time girls leave school, they are only half as likely to reach the recommended activity levels as boys.
• Other WSFF research shows that an increased media profile helps create role models to inspire girls.

The government should consider:
• Requesting that sports use part of their public funding to deliver media strategies for women’s sport.
• Including a women’s sport event on the list of protected events shown on free-to-air TV.
• Strengthening the responsibilities of public broadcasters such as the BBC and Channel 4.
