Rejected petition David Beckham to be selected for the Olympic football team

David Beckham has contributed so much to British football and the securing of the London Olympics and deserves through his footballing skill, sporting and Olympic contributions to be included in the GB football team.

On present form, there is no GB team capable of winning any major tournament let alone an Olympic one therefore it has to be concluded that GB participation is for sporting reasons alone.

It is an insult to David Beckham and all he stands for to have him rejected in this rather undignified manner.His contribution to the winning bid wasn't rejected therefore his potential contribution to the team shouldn't be rejected.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport should urge the selectors to think again and include David Beckham in the GB Olympic Squad.
