Treating disease directly caused by smoking produces medical bills of more than £5bn a year in the UK and is recognised as the UK’s single greatest cause of preventable illness and early death with around 107,000 people dying in 2007 from smoking-related diseases including cancers.

As a smoker I feel that if the legal sale of tobacco products is banned it would greatly help me give up smoking long term, contribute to many lives being saved and produce large savings for the NHS.
