Legitimate tattoo studios are required to pay for an inspection and licence by their local health authority. This is to ensure the premises and artists are safe to undertake tattooing & cosmetic piercing without risk to the general public. Due to this, only equipment to perform permanent tattooing and cosmetic piercing should be allowed to be purchased by licenced individuals. Professional artists are trained and experienced to undertake tattooing with minimal risk to cross contamination and infection.
