We call on the Government to recommend the award of a posthumous Victoria Cross to John Simpson Kirkpatrick for outstanding Gallantry.

He continually risked his life bringing back wounded soldiers from the front line and no man’s land saving over 300 lives until he was shot and killed by a sniper.

The precedent to award a posthumous VC has previously been set in 1907 when two posthumous awards of a VC 28 years after the event were made.
