We believe that the franchise for the West Coast Mainline has been awarded to FirstGroup based purely on the fact that the bid was the highest and unrealistic premium payments have been set.

Customer service and punctuality, plus a realistic premium payment, should have been factored in more prominently and a review into the decision should be held.
