Wigan council have included a good deal of green belt land and farm land around the borough in there strategic plan in other words there are designating it as potential building land. If they turn these green areas into housing estates the green space and wildlife will be gone forever.
There is no doubt that more homes may be needed but it is our contention that in an old industrial town there must be plenty of old industrial and defiling sites which in many cases are messy eyesores, which could be used to provide building land
