Britain should join the European Free Trade Association or EFTA (like Norway and Switzerland) which would allow it to maintain all the trade links and benefits of being in the European union without many of the costs, penalties and loss of sovereignty that being a EU member state entails.

This would of course leaving the EU beforehand.
