Petition National trails to remain the responsibility of the national government
More details
The Government must retain responsibility for the thirteen National Trails rather than handing over responsibility to hard pressed local authorities and voluntary groups which will result in fragmented management and probable degradation of these fantastic resources which generate hundreds of millions of pounds per annum for local businesses and support many, many thousands of jobs within local economies, add health benefits to society in general and to the millions of people who walk these trails, not only British walkers but overseas visitors too who benefit the national economy by spending foreign currency on goods and services.
