Petition Equal pay for adopters

Pregnant women are currently entitled to paid time off for all ante natal appointments.

When pregnant women go on maternity leave, they are entitled to the first 6weeks at 90% of their salary, then 33 weeks at the statutory rate.

Adopters are not entitled to any paid time off to attend compulsory adoption appointments.

When adopters go on adoption leave, they do not receive the first 6 weeks at 90% of their salary. They just receive 39 weeks at the statutory rate.

Adopters are taking children out of local authority care and should not be penalised or discriminated against.
