Carers save the government billions each year, so why is it that so many carers are living in poverty? Carers allowance is the same rate for someone who could be working and earning up to £100 as someone who cares for a person who is unable to work due to their carers responsibilities.

People who are caring for the sick should be entitled to the same rate as people who are looking for work
