The social and environmental benefits of public transport are already there. But advancing technology has come to the point where there is a new cheaper, safer, greener, more accessible form of public transport that has revolutionized travel around Heathrow Airport terminal 5, similar to a taxi. This is easier than what google is trying to do, make self-driving cars running on public roads.
