Closed Registering at GPs surgery for students

The current system only allows someone to register at a single GP surgery, if they register at a different surgery they are automatically taken off the register at the previous surgery; this of course is logical.
However, if that person is a student and live away from home during term time they can be living away from their registered GP for 4-8 months (depending whether they stay registered at 'home' or instead register at university).
I believe this creates a hole in the health system.
I'm petitioning for full-time students to be able to temporarily register at a medical centre near to their university whilst retaining membership at their current GP surgery.
